About Elke Trick

Elke Trick is a native of Germany, having lived most of her formative years in the peaceful serenity of the Northern Black Forest. Elke spent her summers hiking the Alps in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Northern Italy, taking in spectacular views from snow covered peaks, which she tried to capture with her first point and shoot camera as a young teenager. Travel to other European countries further opened up her view of the world, and increased her interest in understanding other cultures, while giving her a greater appreciation for her own cultural tapestry.

After meeting her husband, Bryant, a California native, she moved to Los Angeles, where weekend day hikes in Southern California, driving up the coast to Seattle and discovering the vast landscape of the Western United States further increased her passion for photography and travel.  Bryant's work ignited the life of a global nomad for the next 10 years , entailing making a home in Kiev, Ukraine, Berlin, Germany and Seoul, South Korea before settling in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC with their two sons. Living in South Korea and traveling to Thailand and Taiwan exposed Elke to cultures drastically different from her own. Learning to embrace the differences, finding new world views and capturing daily life and beauty became a passion.

As a photographer, Elke wants to share her love for beauty in the world and encourage people to embrace differences through her images. Her inspirational photography is occasionally accompanied by Haikus serving as a poetic time capsule of moments. For daily inspirations, visit Elke's Instagram feed @Elke_Trick.
